a little bit of everything...

Oh my god why won't he just go to sleep? We've all been horribly sick with a cold and the last few nights have been sheer hell with Little Man waking frequently and increasingly earlier; there have been hours of rocking and walking a sick little man who thrashes and yells in your arms. Today he woke at four a.m. He seems much better today but for some reason he still WILL NOT SLEEP despite being way overtired. And of course the demon cat thinks that means it's a great idea for her to start screeching her lungs out too. I finally had to leave the room because my being in there was Just.Not.Productive. Not helpful to be on the verge of yelling "Just f---ing lie down and close your eyes!" But I am so bloody tired and at the rate we've been going I expect he'll be up at three tomorrow morning.

In other news, anyone want to adopt an orange tabby? Just slightly portly, very cuddly and remarkably tolerant of tail-pulling. Or a 13-month old?

oh my god, that's awful. I had total flashbacks to walking the hallway in our apartment with a writhing, screaming, not sleeping baby... that was a bad time. But if it makes you feel better I'd already kind of forgotten about it!

I hope you ALL start feeling and sleeping better soon.

I'll take them off your hands for the day and you can get a massage! Really I don't know how you do it! I think this is the hardest stage. When he's a toddler I think it gets better. Hang in there.

UUUUhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst ever when they won't sleep and you're too tired to deal with it... Alena's been pulling the same stint and I'm like, is it teeth? Do you have a cold? COULD YOU LEARN TO TALK so I can figure out what to do because nursing hourly through the night gets OLD FAST!!!
    Good luck!

Oh, we are so there right now, too! I've actually said the words you're on the verge of saying... And, as I type this, Ian is in walking C, and walking, and walking....

Thanks, I may take you up on her info. I have decided I am definately not ready to wean. We gave her a bottle of formula before bed two nights in a row and I realized I am not ready. That said, being a zombie all day long is not an option either. So starting tonight I'm going to night wean her, until at least three of four. I have a book by Ann Douglas about sleep (I think she's great, not sure if you've read anything by her) and it said that attempting to "sleep train" without tears is setting yourself up for failure... so that was good to read, but I know there were tears with Leila and I felt unreasonably guilty about it. Anyhoo!! This was a long and drawn out way to say thanks for the comments!! I'll let you know how it goes and might use your sleep consultant :)
